Dominican Republic Mission Trip
Over 75 families and students joined together on our 2016 trip! This video shows a glimpse of the Lord at work through our members as they served alongside mission partners in the community.
June 16–23, 2018
Cost: $2,400 for adults, $1,200 for children up to age 17
Travel to the Dominican Republic to work with your family or friends in Santo Domingo neighborhoods with our partner, Mission Emanuel. We will be assisting on construction projects but there is an emphasis placed on time spent in fellowship rather than on physical work. Days are spent within the community working and being with the people, and evenings are spent sharing stories of the day. The physical labor that needs to be done always seems to get done but hearts are restored in the process.
For more information, contact Allison Murphy, Missions Coordinator.
What will we be doing on the trip?
We will be assisting on construction projects with an emphasis placed on time spent in fellowship rather than on physical work. The mornings will be focused on the construction projects while the afternoon’s intentionality is placed on connecting with the people in the community. We will have ample time to play with children and have conversations with the adults (interpreters will be available).
What are the accommodations?
We will be staying at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel. We can reserve adjoining rooms for families.
What is the food like?
The breakfast buffet served at the hotel includes a wide variety of western foods. For lunch we will have a home-cooked Dominican meal (usually chicken with rice & beans) while we are onsite at Mission Emanuel. In the evenings, we will go to a local restaurants or order pizza at the hotel. There is also a local grocery store within walking distance to purchase snacks. Bottled water is available everywhere.
Will there be any time to do any sightseeing?
We will spend one day at a local beach to swim and relax.
Will I need vaccinations or immunizations?
Check the vaccines and medicines list at cdc.org/travel. Visit your doctor or local clinic (ideally, 4-6 weeks) before your trip to get vaccines or any medications you may need. Also make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot.
CDC recommends these vaccines & medicines for the Dominican Republic:
- Hepatitis A
- Malaria Prevention Medication
