Charlie serves as the Highland Park Pres Teaching Pastor and is particularly passionate about preaching and teaching God’s Word in a way that invites us to know and enjoy God. He also loves encouraging people to take their next step in their journey with Jesus. Just shoot him an email if you’d like to meet for coffee or a meal!Charlie has been serving on the staff of Highland Park Pres since June 2009, though he has called HP Pres his church home since 2001. After graduating from Highland Park High School, he headed north to Dartmouth College, where he played tennis, studied classics, and froze in the New Hampshire mountains. Upon returning to Dallas, he pursued his Masters of Divinity at Redeemer Seminary, while ministering to high school students and their families in the HP Pres Student Ministry. He recently completed his Doctorate of Ministry through Duke Divinity School, focusing on how pastors and elders can faithfully shepherd the church together. Charlie is married to his best friend Brandi. When not at the church, he enjoys playing tennis and golf, working out at the Y and having good conversations with friends.Charlie's favorite passage in Scripture is John 10:1–30, in which Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd. He goes back to this passage again and again to remember Jesus’ redemptive love to lay down his life for his sheep (John 10:11), His pursuing love to effectively call his sheep (10:4,16), and his preserving love to protect and care for His sheep, even unto eternity (10:28). Love so undeserved, yet so vast, consistently calls his heart back to the Shepherd.
