Maddie & Jeremy Wilkins

Maddie & Jeremy Wilkins met in the Young Adult ministry— their passion for serving had them fully invested in the life of HP Pres. When they heard that Cameron & Emily Beaty were moving on to launch Peak Street Church, they were devastated. Each of them had been encouraged by the way that the Beatys invested in and transformed the Young Adult community. But, this news was tied with an unexpected invitation. To their surprise, Cameron asked them to join the lead team at the new church plant. Through thought and prayer, Maddie and Jeremy felt pulled towards the challenge to build community in a new environment.

Committing to this vision was a risk— Maddie originally had hesitations about leaving HP Pres because it had been her church for over five years. She established safety, a home and a launching pad for her desire to minister to the people of Haiti. Beyond that, both her and Jeremy felt under equipped and had no experience launching a church plant. Thankfully, they have seen God move powerfully, learning that embracing change and pushing boundaries, which can be difficult, always leads to growth. “Fortunately, serving doesn't always have to be perfect or polished. People are just looking for authentic community and sometimes, the imperfections or little awkward moments may be what ultimately connects you with the people coming through the door,” the couple mentions.

What is especially remarkable about the Wilkins’ story is that they were married shortly after the Peak Street Church launch! Initially they were concerned that too much change at once would be overwhelming, but it came together perfectly as they experience God’s faithfulness together. They want to make Peak Street a church that loves Jesus, loves people, and can bring transformative change to East Dallas. Thus far, they have done just that. It is so exciting to see how God has been working through the flourishing of His people. Find out how you can serve here at HP Pres at
