“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” 1 Peter 3:15b
When Tessa and Russ Hubbard saw the announcement for the Ready to Reason growth course, they both immediately circled it and signed up together. Their hope was to walk into conversation with their non-Christian family and friends with more confidence. Jesus is at the center of their lives, but they struggled to support the reason for their hope with evidence and key discussion points.
Each week Tessa and Russ grew more confident to step out in their faith and have conversations about Jesus. “I grew up in a neighborhood where I assumed everyone believed in God, and we now live in a post-modern east Dallas neighborhood where that cannot be assumed. Bringing up God in conversation doesn’t happen as easily,” Tessa explains. By practicing in and out of the class, Tessa snd Russ were able to feel more comfortable sharing their faith with boldness on the playground with other moms or in conversation with atheist friends and family while trusting God’s timing and providence.
Ready to Reason is designed to prepare you to have spiritual conversations with your non-Christians friends. There is no script, no magic four-step process, and the goal is not to turn your friends into “projects.” Instead, the class will equip you to have conversations in the context of authentic, loving relationships. Over the four weeks of the course, you’ll learn and practice how to share the beauty and believability of Jesus in clear and thoughtful ways.
Stuck inside? This semester’s Ready to Reason course, taught by Pastor Charlie Dunn, will be available on live online Tuesday evenings beginning March 24 at 7 pm. Find out how to join in at hppres.org/classes.
