In the summer of 2019, the Huff family ventured off on their first family mission trip. Though most of them had been on mission trips before, Spain would be the first serving opportunity that they would embark on as a family, allowing them to take part in being the hands and feet of Jesus together.
The Pilgrim’s Fountain is a refuge and hostel in a small village of Spain along the Camino de Santiago. Our HP Pres team spends a week preparing meals and chatting with those on the 500-mile walking journey. With their three children in elementary, middle, and high school, each one of the Huffs played a different role in helping welcome these pilgrims with the love of Christ. For Hank and Elissa, it was encouraging to see their children excited to serve and be able articulate their faith to others. This shared experience brought the Huffs together in a unique way as they grew and learned as a family what it means to love the world.
The family made deep personal connections with all types of people, from kids through seniors and from countries all over the world. The reason we go on mission trips is to share the Gospel. The first step to doing that, whether at home or abroad, is to genuinely get to know someone. In Spain, we do that through shared meals and serving the travelers that stop at this hostel.
