Session Update - April

The Session of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is the ruling body of our congregation, charged with governance, overseeing the Church’s spiritual health, and guiding its mission for Christ in the world. In order to better do this, the Session communicates frequently with the congregation of HP Pres to report its decisions and activities. You can visit the Elders page (hppres.org/elders) to see other updates from the Session and to send messages to our Elders and pastors.

April 2019 Update

HP Pres Family,

On Monday, April 29, our Session met to discuss and pray for our church. Below are some of the highlights from the meeting that you should be aware of and praying for during this next month. If you have questions or feedback about any of these topics, you can contact the Session at hppres.org/elders.

  • After a day of fasting, the Session spent time together in worship, prayed for our church, and heard testimonies from some of our graduating High School seniors.
  • The Session discussed the importance of anticipatory leadership, and being ready for challenges the church may face in the years and decades ahead.
  • The Campus Vision team gave a brief update about Transform. A rainy month has slightly delayed construction, but completion dates are still on track. The next round of updates will begin this summer. More information will come soon on transform.hppres.org/news.
  • Charlie Dunn shared an update on the new Elder training program, and how we’re teaching our newly elected leaders about their upcoming roles.
  • The Finance committee gave an update regarding the church’s finances. Giving continues to be strong. Thanks to your generosity, we are ahead of our expected giving-to-date. Spending is down, lower than anticipated needs. Our reserves and operating cash are at targeted levels. Pledges to Transform are being fulfilled at an encouraging rate as well.

Seeking to Glorify Him,

The Session Communication Team
