Session Update – Aug. 24

HP Pres Family,

On Monday, August 24, our Session met after a day of fasting to discuss and pray for our family of churches. Thank you to the many members of our congregations who joined us for a day of prayer and fasting. You’re invited to join us monthly in this spiritual practice, and you can learn more about how to participate at hppres.org/fast.

Below are some of the highlights from the meeting that you should be aware of and praying for during this next month. If you have questions or feedback about any of these topics, you can contact the Session at hppres.org/elders.

  • Elder reflections: Our outgoing governing elders shared reflections on the past four years, sharing wisdom and prayers for the future. We also welcomed our incoming elders to their first session meeting.
  • The Elders discussed reopening in person worship. A return in late September, with registration and other safety precautions, was considered favorably.
  • Charlie Dunn presented an update on the Grace Lake Highlands church plant. The church will lease space from Youth Believing in Change and excited about the partnership with this ministry and hopes to partner with nearby Stults Elementary as well.
  • The Governance Coordinating Committee presented the new session committee leadership appointees for this year, shared feedback regarding the annual evaluation of the Senior Pastor and introduced a Vision 100 Advancement Team which seeks to bring our elders closer to the work of our V100 goals.
  • The Management Council presented updates to our giving, which exceeded our annual giving budget by $13,000 as of August 21. The 2020-2021 budget was presented and approved.

Seeking to Glorify Him,
