Session Update – March

The Session of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is the ruling body of our congregation, charged with governance, overseeing the Church’s spiritual health, and guiding its mission for Christ in the world. In order to better do this, the Session communicates frequently with the congregation of HP Pres to report its decisions and activities. You can visit the Elders page (hppres.org/elders) to see other updates from the Session and to send messages to our Elders and pastors.

March 2019 Update

Dear HP Pres Family,

On Monday, March 25, our Session met to discuss and pray for our church. Below are some of the highlights from the meeting that you should be aware of and praying for during this next month. If you have questions or feedback about any of these topics, you can contact the Session at hppres.org/elders.

  • After a day of fasting, the Session spent time together in worship, prayed for our church, and studied 1 Corinthians 10.
  • We’re grateful to have been able to host pastor and author Tim Keller this past Sunday! You can see his message at hppres.org/sermons.
  • The Session discussed the importance of being able to track important metrics, like Vision 100 (hppres.org/vision) in the church, without losing sight of the individual people we are called to disciple.
  • The Campus Vision team gave a brief update about Transform. Construction is proceeding on track, and the next round of updates will begin this summer. More information will come soon on transform.hppres.org/news.
  • After a two-year, nationwide search, we’re excited to welcome Sarah Good as our new Executive Director. Learn more about Sarah Good at hppres.org/executive-director-announcement.
  • The Finance committee gave a mid-year update about the church’s finances. Giving to the General Operating Budget is above expectations, spending is below expectations, and pledged gifts to Transform are on track.
  • This past Sunday, the congregation voted to elect 6 new elders and 18 new deacons. See them at hppres.org/onc.

Seeking to Glorify Him,

The Session Communication Team
