We are often amazed at the creativity of our ministry partners, even in these trying times. Pastor Erik Fonseca leads a church in rural Cuba and was required to quarantine for 14 days in a make-shift clinic after a young man in his church was diagnosed with COVID-19. Because sharing the gospel is always a top priority for Pastor Erik and his church, he decided to turn this hardship into a blessing.
Hunkering down with more than 60 other people also required to quarantine, Pastor Erik and his wife, Eliennys, brought along a backpack that was given to him on our 2020 HP Pres Cuba mission trip. This backpack, developed by The JESUS Film Project, contains a solar-powered movie projector with a portable screen, speakers, and seven different films that introduce non-believers to the hope of Christ, all in Spanish. Now, to this quarantined community, God’s grand redemptive story has been shared.
Although the world is changing, our mission has not. By giving to Highland Park Pres, you are supporting our mission of helping people find and follow Jesus, and those serving the most vulnerable in our city and world. Thank you for your generosity, which enables us to extend compassion and hope to those affected by COVID-19. Find ways to give at hppres.org/give.
